Dedicated in 1996 to the Foundation's founder, G. Dennis O'Brien, the Sailing Center has a fleet of 24' Rainbow sloops and rowboats and is staffed by experienced sailing instructors. Using this fleet, the Center teaches students about boat handling and safety. In addition to on-the-water skills we also have a host of land-based lessons, such as navigation, knot tying, sail theory, maritime history, nautical storytelling, wetlands, oysters, watershed and water craft identification. Through a combination of land and water-based activities, the Center hopes to provide students with a better understanding of the water and those who live and work on it.
