Living Classroms Foundation is proud to offer our Outreach Programs as an extension of your school's curriculum. Each program provides experiential, educational activities and is designed to enhance students' knowledge of ecology, science, history and more via exploration and fun! Let us bring the excitement to your school through programs covering the following interests:

Investigate the issues affecting the health of the Chesapeake Bay by using a 3-D model of the watershed. All participating classes view an interactive slide presentation for the first half hour and then conduct a science experiment, which is presented in small groups.

Learn the skill of caulking and find out how many African-Americans used maritime skills to gain their freedom. Dissect oysters and discover their importance to the Chesapeake Bay and the seaport of Baltimore. This program begins with a 30 minute discussion for all classes and is followed by hands-on activities, presented in small groups.

Discover why plankton is essential to life on earth. Identify different species using a microscope. Students will be challenged to create the most buoyant body design for planktonic organisms, or participate in the food chain game.

This program brings experiential education to your classroom! Students will discover the importance of working together when they are challenged to complete teambuilding initiatives. Cooperative learning is the focus of this interactive, hands-on, experience.

"The program is very much aligned with
the Montgomery County Public School
curricular goals for the ecosystem and Chesapeake Bay unit."
Mr. Ehlman, North Chevy Chase Elementary School
"The review of the Bay, surrounding areas,
and land forms was a great review in Social Studies.
The pollution and the effects on the Bay and other ecosystems tied in well
with science. "
Mr. Proda, Damascus Elementary School
"The program fit wonderfully with our Maryland
unit."
Mrs. Alchison, Preston Elementary School
"The content really supported our Science
unit on ecosystems. We've done a lot of reading
about the Bay, so I feel this was great at reinforcing student learning."
Mrs. Painton, Farmland Elementary School
